The first time ever Susan Michod's public response to the tragic events of 911 will be shown on the 10 year anniversary of 911 in their entirety.

Shrouds. A shroud. Many shrouds. Paintings as garments, as veils. Paintings that conceal and in their concealing reveal new ways of looking at the world.

I started my series of paintings, called “Shrouds,” before the events of September 11  but that dark day gave the work a new sense of urgency. The faces became facades, the crumpled slabs of iron spiking out of the smoldering ruins in those unforgettable photos. 

I seem to be drawn to disasters as I am now working on series of the Japanese tsunami.
